27 Oct 80% of all consumer Internet traffic will be video by 2019
According to a report released by CISCO, 80% of all consumer Internet traffic in 2019 will be from consumer video traffic. This is up from 64% in 2014 which is a rise of 16% in 5 years. This may be due to a number of reasons including faster internet speeds, a greater number of consumers with access to the internet and also more people opting to watch video online rather than through cable.
From this it is easy to see the growing popularity of online video which is why it is so important to provide consumers with a clean, smooth stream. This means no buffering, lag or other problems which affect the viewing experience.
In order to appeal to other customers and pull them away from the traditional TV set it is important for video distribution companies to make sure they provide a great online TV-quality experience. This is done by using an advanced real time data metrics platform, such as YOUBORA Analytics, to monitor the stream and analyse the delivery process and viewing experience. By doing this, online video distributors can guarantee that their product reaches the customer in the best format possible, ensuring that the customers are happy. And if your customers are happy this means they will be more likely to return and use the service again and again.
Here are a number of other interesting statistics released by CISCO:
